PG&E EV charger rebates for businesses (2026)
PG&E's two business charger programs are closed. PG&E says EV Charge 2 (multifamily and small business) "reached full subscription and is no longer accepting applications", and EV Fleet is "fully subscribed and is no longer accepting applications". PG&E has not announced a successor rebate. In most of Northern and Central California, the money now comes from your community choice aggregator (CCA), your air district and state programs, while PG&E still offers a utility-side construction path and free advice.
What closed
- EV Charge 2: a turnkey program in which PG&E and its implementer handled design, permits, equipment and install at multifamily and small business sites. Closed, fully subscribed.
- EV Fleet: make-ready plus charger rebates for medium- and heavy-duty fleets. Closed, fully subscribed. PG&E's page points fleets to EV Advisory Services.
- Empower EV: an income-qualified residential program that closed December 31, 2024. It never covered commercial sites.
- Alameda County and San Jose CALeVIP projects (with Ava Community Energy and San José Clean Energy): closed with the rest of CALeVIP 1.0.
What PG&E still offers
- EV Power Ready (Electric Rule 29). A service path for new, separately metered EV charging at businesses and multifamily sites. PG&E designs, builds and maintains the utility-side construction from its distribution system to your meter panel. You pay a $3,500 engineering advance up front ($30,000 minimum for requests of 2 MW or more), plus the chargers, the customer-side wiring and installation. You must own and operate the chargers for at least five years. It is not a rebate, but it can remove a large share of the utility-side cost. Apply through PG&E's "Your Projects" portal.
- EV Advisory Services: free planning help for fleets and sites.
- Business EV rates (BEV): a rate structure for charging load, which lowers operating cost rather than paying for equipment.
Your CCA is now the main rebate layer
Most PG&E business customers buy their power from a CCA while PG&E delivers it. Several CCAs run per-port charger rebates, and they are usually the largest open cash rebate in PG&E territory right now. On the CCA pages we checked today: MCE lists $4,000 (Light Green) or $4,500 (Deep Green) per Level 2 port for 2 to 20 ports; WestLight Energy (formerly Peninsula Clean Energy) lists $4,500 per Level 2 port at existing multifamily and $5,500 at affordable multifamily; Silicon Valley Clean Energy lists $5,500 per Level 2 port at existing multifamily, up to 18 ports, and says all incentives must be reserved before purchase or installation. Sonoma Clean Power gives up to 4 free chargers per workplace, multifamily or free public site (up to 15 for fleets) on a first come, first served basis starting July 1 each year. 3CE's commercial program pays, from October 1, 2026, 75% of a Level 2 project's cost up to $8,000 per site (up to $20,000 at multifamily housing) and 50% of a DC fast charger project up to $100,000.
In the San Joaquin Valley, the air district's Charge Up! program is open and pays per charger. In the Bay Area, BAAQMD Charge! is between rounds.

Getting it built in PG&E territory
EV Charge 2 used to be turnkey: PG&E's implementer did the work. That path is closed, so you now hire the installer yourself and file the CCA or air district rebate, or have the installer file it for you. EV Power Ready can still take the utility-side construction off your plate.
Who files the rebate applications is usually the site owner, or the installer or charging provider on the owner's behalf. Some providers offer turnkey projects (design, permits, install and paperwork for one price) or revenue-share and charging-as-a-service deals where they fund part of the equipment and share charging revenue. Both can work; compare the contract length, who keeps the rebates and LCFS credits, and what happens at the end of the term. More detail on the Oakland and Alameda County page.
Where EVgpo fits: EVgpo sources chargers at group pricing and sells nationwide. You can ask us for a charger quote and compare it with your installer's.
