SCE EV charger rebates for businesses (2026)
Every lane of SCE's Charge Ready program is closed. SCE's page says: "Charge Ready applications are no longer being accepted." Projects that already hold an agreement must have it fully signed by December 31, 2026. If you are planning a new commercial, multifamily or fleet charging project in SCE territory, the funding now comes from the state, your air district, your city utility or community choice aggregator (CCA), and a new SCE rebate aimed at large shared fleet sites.
What closed, and when
- Charge Ready Charging Infrastructure & Rebate: SCE built the utility-side and customer-side make-ready or paid a rebate toward customer-built infrastructure (up to 80% of SCE's estimated costs, 4 or more ports). Closed.
- Charge Ready New Construction Rebate: up to $3,500 per Level 2 port above CALGreen minimums at new multifamily buildings. SCE says the application window closed on July 12, 2025.
- Charge Ready Small Site and Charge Ready Transport (medium- and heavy-duty fleets): closed to new applications. Transport agreements must be signed by December 31, 2026 at 11:59 pm.
- Southern California Level 2 CALeVIP project (funded in part by Clean Power Alliance): closed as part of the CALeVIP 1.0 shutdown.
What replaced it
Nothing replaces Charge Ready one for one. Three things fill part of the gap:
- SCE Shared Fleet Charging Rebate (SFCR). SCE's program handbook (dated December 11, 2025) describes a dollars-per-installed-kW rebate for medium- and heavy-duty sites that serve several fleets or the public, at 1 MW or more (or 150 kW per on-route wireless charging location). You must already be working with SCE on a Rule 15, 16 or 29 service project, and applications are first come, first served. The handbook does not publish the $/kW figure or dates: ask SCE at SharedFleetCharging@sce.com.
- SCE Transportation Electrification Advisory Services. Free EV readiness studies and guidance, linked from SCE's Charge Ready page. It does not pay for equipment.
- State and regional money. CEC's NEVI Solicitation 6 for public DC fast charging took applications until October 16, 2026. Communities in Charge (Level 2, mostly multifamily) has Funding Wave 5 "coming soon" with no date. Air districts inside SCE territory run their own programs, listed below.
Check who your electric utility really is
SCE covers most of Southern California outside the City of Los Angeles, but several cities inside its footprint have their own municipal utilities with their own charger rebates: Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Anaheim, Riverside, Vernon, Azusa and Colton among them. If your meter is billed by one of those, SCE programs never applied and the city utility is your first stop. Enter the site ZIP in the finder and it sorts this out for you.

Getting it built in SCE territory
With Charge Ready gone, SCE is no longer designing or building the customer-side wiring for you. Budget for your own electrical contractor, and talk to SCE early about the service upgrade, because the utility side still sets the schedule.
Who files the rebate applications is usually the site owner, or the installer or charging provider on the owner's behalf. Some providers offer turnkey projects (design, permits, install and paperwork for one price) or revenue-share and charging-as-a-service deals where they fund part of the equipment and share charging revenue. Both can work; compare the contract length, who keeps the rebates and LCFS credits, and what happens at the end of the term. More detail on the Los Angeles County page.
Where EVgpo fits: EVgpo sources chargers at group pricing and sells nationwide. You can ask us for a charger quote and compare it with your installer's.
