LADWP EV charger rebates for businesses (2026)
LADWP is the electric utility for the City of Los Angeles, so SCE programs never applied inside city limits. LADWP's Commercial EV Charger Rebate Program is between enrollments: its FAQ says "The open enrollment period for the Commercial Electric Vehicle Charger Rebate program has officially ended." The program dashboard, updated August 19, 2026, lists Fiscal Year 2026-2027 funds as pending release: $45,000,000 for Level 2 and $20,000,000 for DC fast charging.
How the LADWP rebate works
- Who qualifies: LADWP customers at commercial, industrial and common areas of multifamily locations, including homeowners associations.
- How much: the FAQ says the final rebate is based on itemized, eligible project costs, minus any other incentives. LADWP has not posted per-charger caps for the next enrollment, so check with LADWP before you budget a number.
- Limits: up to 80 Level 2 chargers per premises; up to 20 DC fast chargers per premises if public, or 2 if access is restricted; medium- and heavy-duty chargers up to $2,000,000 per site.
- Two ways in: a Rebate Reservation before you install, or a Post Deployment Rebate after install (which needs prior engineering approval and final permits).
- Lottery: when applications exceed the funds, LADWP randomizes the order in which it processes them.
From July 2019 to June 2025 the dashboard shows $148,477,393 paid out, so this program is large when it is open. If you plan to apply, have quotes and the engineering review lined up before the next enrollment opens.
What to use while LADWP is between enrollments
The programs below apply inside the City of Los Angeles. NEVI Solicitation 6 is the only large open grant right now, and it only fits public DC fast charging. For Level 2 at multifamily sites, Communities in Charge Wave 5 is announced but not dated. South Coast AQMD's Carl Moyer program funds fleet infrastructure; its 2025 period closed July 15, 2025 and no 2026 solicitation is posted. The City of LA does not offer a cash rebate, but it runs an expedited permit path.

Getting it built in LADWP territory
LADWP's post-deployment rebate needs prior engineering approval and final permits, so the contractor and the LADWP engineering review have to be lined up before you build. Most owners reserve funds first when an enrollment opens.
Who files the rebate applications is usually the site owner, or the installer or charging provider on the owner's behalf. Some providers offer turnkey projects (design, permits, install and paperwork for one price) or revenue-share and charging-as-a-service deals where they fund part of the equipment and share charging revenue. Both can work; compare the contract length, who keeps the rebates and LCFS credits, and what happens at the end of the term. More detail on the Los Angeles County page.
Where EVgpo fits: EVgpo sources chargers at group pricing and sells nationwide. You can ask us for a charger quote and compare it with your installer's.
