- San Diego APCD
- Deadline May 15, 2026 (passed); next cycle not posted

- Runs Charge Up! for chargers (open)
Who qualifies
Fleet owners and public agencies. District pages describe charging infrastructure as eligible when it serves eligible zero-emission vehicles or equipment (for example San Diego APCD funds "battery charging infrastructure serving equipment" in its listed categories).
How EV charging fits this program
Carl Moyer is a fleet program. It fits depot charging for trucks, buses and off-road equipment, not workplace or multifamily Level 2.
Amounts
Grants are limited by the district's cost-effectiveness rules under CARB's Carl Moyer guidelines, not a flat per-port amount.
How to apply, step by step
- Find your air district (the rebate finder shows it by ZIP).
- Sign up for the district's incentive emails. South Coast AQMD asks applicants to sign up at aqmd.gov/sign-up for its next solicitation.
- Apply during the district's window, and confirm with the district before buying anything.

Local air districts set per-project caps. Pay-for-emission-reduction model: $/ton NOx+PM+ROG reduced by retrofit/replacement project, with charging infrastructure as enabling investment. Statewide ~$60M/year.
Who qualifies
Funds INFRASTRUCTURE for projects that enable deployment of cleaner technology (zero/near-zero engines). EV chargers funded only as part of broader fleet electrification project. Local air district sets specific eligibility.

How this stacks with other programs
California State programs typically stack with utility, regional (air district), state, and city/county programs on the same project. The general California stacking rules:
- Federal §30C tax credit: ended for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026. Projects placed in service on or before that date may still claim it; new projects should plan without it.
- Federal grants (CFI, REAP, NEVI): not stackable with other federal grants on the same port.
- State + utility + regional + local: generally full stack across tiers. Same-tier programs serving the same port don't double-fund.
For the full stacking matrix, see the homepage stacking section.
