How EV charging fits this program
Utility-funded make-ready for fleet depots, plus a charger rebate for transit, school district and disadvantaged-community fleets.
Amounts
Option 1: SDG&E funds and maintains infrastructure to the charging station. Option 2: SDG&E funds to the meter and rebates up to 80% of customer-side infrastructure. Charger rebate (transit, schools, DAC fleets): up to 50% of cost, capped from $3,000 per charger (up to 19.2 kW) to $75,000 per charger (above 150 kW).
How to apply, step by step
- Submit SDG&E's interest form.
- An SDG&E representative verifies eligibility.
- Complete the formal application.
- Design and engineering (6 to 9 months), then construction (3 to 4 months) and activation.
How it pays
Two options: (1) no-cost SDG&E-owned make-ready up to the charger; or (2) customer-owned option with rebate up to 80% of customer-side make-ready cost. Transit agencies, school districts, and fleets in disadvantaged communities (not Fortune 1000) may get an additional charger rebate of up to 50% of charger cost: $3,000 per charger up to 19.2 kW, $15,000 for 19.3-50 kW, $45,000 for 50.1-150 kW, $75,000 for 150.1 kW and above. Program goal: 3,000 MD/HD vehicles at 300 sites; 10-year participation commitment.
DAC bonus available. Projects in state-designated low-income or environmental-justice areas qualify for a higher rebate amount on this program.

How this stacks with other programs
Utility programs typically stack with utility, regional (air district), state, and city/county programs on the same project. The general California stacking rules:
- Federal §30C tax credit: ended for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026. Projects placed in service on or before that date may still claim it; new projects should plan without it.
- Federal grants (CFI, REAP, NEVI): not stackable with other federal grants on the same port.
- State + utility + regional + local: generally full stack across tiers. Same-tier programs serving the same port don't double-fund.
For the full stacking matrix, see the homepage stacking section.
